“At the end of the day, we’re just selling shoes.” I can’t begin to tell you how many times that has been said to me over the course of two years working in the corporate sneaker industry. When you really think about what we are selling, it is NOT just shoes. I speak with consumers and collect data based feedback. I can most certainly tell you, for them, it’s not just about “The Shoe”. It is about the story behind the shoe, the anecdotal memories attached to the shoe, but most importantly they way the shoe made or makes them feel. It’s these memories that compel the consumer to purchase and continue to stay loyal to the brand. So, at the end of the day, we are NOT just selling shoes.
