When it comes to Marketing one thing you have to do is be consistent. Many brands go through phases, or create sub-brands, but regardless of what they do, then need to be consistent. The brand featured in the image is not the brand we’ll be talking about today. Coke is a good example of the evolution of a consistent logo. The company I work for had been going through a branding “struggle”. I’m using struggle to describe this situation because from the outside looking in, that’s exactly what it was. The brand was known for an iconic logo in the 80s and 90s. The company decided to do away with that logo and create two sub brands under the main brand. Sound complicated? It was. Under the main brand there would be two units, a fitness focused unit and a lifestyle unit with two sperate logos. This caused consumer confusion, who were they buying from? Now the brand I work for operates under the original popular logo and has done away with the logo subsets. Consumers have been ecstatic about this consistency and it’s a logo they know love and recognize. What have you seen a brand do that was inconsistent and how did it make you feel?
